MSC. RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING

Renewable energy is the energy from renewable resources that are naturally replenished on a human timescale. Renewable resources include sunlight, wind, the movement of water, and geothermal heat. Although most renewable energy sources are sustainable, some are not. For example, some biomass sources are considered unsustainable at current rates of exploitation. Renewable energy is often used for electricity generation, heating and cooling. Renewable energy projects are typically large-scale, but they are also suited to rural and remote areas and developing countries, where energy is often crucial in human development.

Renewable energy engineers provide solutions related to energy use. Like all engineers, they use a combination of research, mathematics, design and testing to create green solutions that generate energy without harming the environment. Due to the ongoing climate crisis, interest and investment in this field of renewable energy is expanding into new areas of research.

Extended supply chains and energy security in the context of sustainability and energy management will be considered throughout the course. Case studies for both developing and developed countries will be an area of focus, with teaching activities supported by international research projects.

How this course will help you in your future career?

  • Select and apply appropriate & systematic analysis methods to critically evaluate and solve complex renewable energy engineering related problems.
  • Analyse different energy resources and conversion processes using analytical modelling, experimental techniques and numerical simulations.
  • Critically access the use of renewable energy systems to mitigate climate change and improve the environment and social welfare
  • Make and justify decisions for selecting and optimising renewable energy products and systems based on technical, environmental, economic risk and social criteria.
  • Develop innovative solutions to meet the current global sustainability and renewable energy challenges.
  • Globally, the total renewable energy capacity has quadrupled in the last ten years. More than half of all added power generation came from renewables. Increases in growth are still needed if global renewable energy targets are to be achieved globally.
  • Applied Energy Management.
  • Business Analytics.
  • Clinical Research.
  • Cloud Data Management.

Conclusion

This course aims to address the need for skilled energy engineers, the opportunity to develop a systematic understanding of knowledge, analytical techniques and research skills related to an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering. On the completion of this course, the student will be prepared on the exploration of current and emerging technologies and applications for renewable energy to make significant contributions to the society, economy and one’s profession.
