Recently, the Australian government has announced some major changes in student visa rules. A notable one is a change in the English language proficiency test requirements. The government has raised the minimum score requirements:
- Student visa: The score has been increased from 5.5 to 6.0
- Temporary graduate visa: The score has been increased from 6.0 to 6.5
There is also a 17% increase in the financial requirements for student visa applicants. The government has introduced the Genuine Student Test instead of the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement.
